Y4E member Gwen Ericksen recently submitted a brilliant proposal focused on promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable action through her “Advocacy and Education” initiative.
The initiative highlighted the need for more accessible recycling options in schools, including additional recycling bins in classrooms and lunch areas, as well as clearer guidance on proper waste disposal. It also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about environmental opportunities, helping students discover ways to contribute through clubs, activities, and community action.
Following a vote by the Youth4Earth community, the proposal received majority support from members and was approved. We are now focusing on implementing this project in Gwen’s community!
This initiative highlights the importance of youth-led solutions in addressing environmental challenges. By identifying areas for improvement and developing practical ways to create change, this project shows the positive impact that young people can have within their communities.
